About Nancy Karpf

Having traveled to far away places, I am altered by the landscapes and people I have discovered. Stirred by the mystery of my surroundings and finding relationships among the shapes, patterns and colors found in nature and in the figure, my goal is to share their unique character through my use of the brush and the juxtaposition of colors, textures, and line to capture a mood. My figurative works include people who are emotionally close to me and complete strangers whose faces or bodies arouse my curiosity. The qualities of loose and gestural brushwork are an important part of my work, allowing me to further reveal and express the intensity of my sensibilities.
